David Schwartzman
is a Cognitive Neuropsychologist based at the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science (SCCS, University of Sussex). His research interests relate to EEG, synaesthesia, metacognition and the structural and functional organization of the brain gives rise to consciousness. He is taking the lead in organizing State of Mind and is also currently helping to organize ASSC16, July 2-6 2012, at the Brighton Dome and Corn Exchange, which will last for 5 days including one day of tutorial sessions and 4 days of intense academic activity centered around keynote talks, single-track symposia, concurrent talks and poster sessions. He is also a keen rock climber, traveler, para glider and has a life long fascination with visual illusions.

Hazelle Woodhurst
currently works with the Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) at the University of Sussex and is PA to the Chair in Psychiatry, DA to the Dept of Psychiatry & the Conference Venue Liaison & Logistics Manager for ASSC 16. Her background is in theatre & events management. She is a professional musician & singer. She works with horses in her spare time, is studying equine physiology, enjoys sports, the great outdoors & socialising with friends & family.
Emily Collins
is a current Experimental Psychology masters student at the University of Sussex. After graduating with a degree in Philosophy from Cardiff University she spent five years living in Japan, where she worked as the National Coordinator for the Japanese government’s international cohort mental health support network. She is now working towards a career in psychology research. Her current project is focussed on cultural influence as it is vocally processed via gender imitation in the Japanese language. Her research interests include Theory of Mind and intersubjectivity in adults and children, and the impact of cultural influences upon such development. She is also a keen martial artist, having practised kendo, kyudo and shinkyokushi karate in Japan, and is now a member of the Sussex University Intergrated Martial Arts Club.
